Florida is known for its thousands of miles of beaches and it’s no wonder that people from all over the world flock here for vacation. There’s a reason it’s called the Sunshine State after all. With remote island getaways to family-friendly shores, there’s something for every visitor. So how do you choose from all of the beaches? Outdoorsy has helped us put together a list of top beach destinations in Florida to inspire your next roadtrip.

Key West

If an island paradise is what you are after, once you get to Key West, you won’t ever want to leave. It’s known for its warm weather and eccentric residents. It’s by far one of the best places to drop your responsibilities and see where the wind takes you. Whether it’s to Ernest Hemmingway’s old home or to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park for some snorkeling or bike riding, there is something for everyone.

Destin

Destin Beach is one not only one of the most beautiful in the state, but it is also one of the most family friendly. Nicknamed the world’s luckiest fishing village, it was once a sleepy fishing village that has grown into one of the most popular vacation spots in Florida. The beaches are known for their pure white sand, made up of pure Appalachian quartz. The best part is that it not only stays cool during the hot summers, but the sun’s reflection also gives the water an emerald tint. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, its known for its golfing and stunning coastline; or if you’re looking for more of an adventure, snorkeling, scuba diving, and deep-sea fishing are some activities you can try your hand at all of it with your campervan as a great home base.

St. Petersburg

If you are looking for an oceanfront campervan adventure, St. Petersburg is a fantastic choice. With fishing, kayaking, jet-skiing and much more, you can spend the day on the water and return for a quiet sunset evening. The city provides both a beach getaway and some urban flavor. There are 7 miles of waterfront parks where you can spend your days hiking, kayaking, and camping.

Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is a laid-back location on the east coast of Florida. A great place to visit for those looking to disconnect for a while and reconnect with family and friends while enjoying the sun, surf, and sand. Then you can walk the boardwalk explore the shops and cafes, the artisan products, live music and other unique entertainment.

Naples

The biggest dilemma when it comes to staying in Naples is picking out which beach to relax on. Every part of Naples is made up of rolling waves, pearl white sand beaches, and million-dollar mansions. The most famous beach of them all is the Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. There are bathhouses, food stands, and rentals everywhere you turn. It is so easy to pass an entire day enjoying the sun surf and sand.

There are so many pristine beaches on Florida’s coast, and it was hard for us to even pick just 5. It makes for one of the best year-round travel destinations in the country. At Ondevan Campervan we make unforgettable road trips easy and beaches are only the starting point for campervan adventures. So, to top it off and give you a reason to extend your stay, our last suggestion is the Everglades. While it cannot be considered a beach, a visit to Florida is not complete without the breathtaking view from the 65-foot observation tower. The Everglades National Park is perfect for the nature lover or anyone wanting to see the abundance of wildlife including turtles, alligators, and manatees. Wherever you choose to visit, with its warm weather, stunning sunsets, and plenty of activities for everyone, now is the time to start booking that Florida vacation.
